Our destination is the island of Iona, where we will follow in the footsteps of St. Columbanus, also known as Calum Cille (Scottish Gaelic). Columbanus of Iona, one of the most important saints in Scotland and Ireland. After some stress he fled to Scotland where he preached and also founded the Abbey of Iona. There he wrote the 'Book of Kells', which will be one of our highlights.

But the real goal are the puffins, the puffins. It's another attempt to see these cute animals. For this we shall go to the island of Lunga.

After a somewhat restless crossing we reach Newcastle.

The check-in and start from Amsterdam/Ijmuiden goes fine like every year.

This is always an exciting moment...

Einschiffen auf der Fähre

... a few minutes before embarkation starts...

Here we go. The forecast announced rough sea.

We gladly reach Newcastle after a stormy night.

Scotland, we are coming!
